A Series of Fortunate Events: Hardware Discovery!

1. I decided to organize the supplies left over from the previous owner in the basement.  This endeavour lead me to my first fortunate event...

The discovery of original hardware!  The previous owner replaced these beautiful clear knobs...

with these HORRID brass ones...

2.  After the discovery of 8 original knobs I decided the hallway cabinet would be much happier if he was embellished with his original decor.

3.  Just changing the hardware made a world of difference.  It made the chipped paint look oh so Shabby Chic!  Thank you basement clutter!

Cheap Bathroom Do-over

The first project to tackle was this little beauty...

The good thing, she had potential.  A lot of it.  The first thing to do was take down that horrid leaf mirror that matched the woodsy/cabin motif.  Next, we decided that the pine paneling would have to go or be painted.  Eventually, I would like to cut the paneling down to make 4 ft. wainscoting, but for now we painted all of the paneling white.

The painting took two days.  We also painted the laundry shoot in the floor, changed the toilet seat cover, painted to the light fixture.  I can't believe the difference just one gallon of paint will do. I can't wait to finish the room.  More pictures to come.

Pre-Wernsing Pictures

My husband and I just recently bought a house.  The bones of the house are excellent but our list of cosmetic updates grows longer every day.  The renters left this house in disarray.  Here are some pictures of the house on our first visit.
